ascites tumour

ascites tumour
Tumour that grows in the peritoneal cavity as a suspension of cells. Obviously such cells have lost anchorage dependence, and they can easily be isolated and passaged. Hybridomas are sometimes grown as ascites tumours, and the ascites fluid can then be used as the crude `antiserum\'.
